As a 4 yr ferret owner, I rely heavily on the advice of local breeders,
shelters and ferret central in addition to my vet and a couple of ferret
first aid manuals and ferret magazines.. In the middle of the night,
knowing what emergency support care will help my ferret until I can get
to the emergency vet or reach my regular vet.

Most of us don't believe the this list is a substitute for vet care.

I believe knowing how to treat diahrea until you can get your ferret to
the vet can saves its life, know that pedialyte will help rehydrate a
dehydrated ferret; knowning that adding ice bottles wrapped in a sock
can help keep your ferret cool you you have to travel in the heat.

Your concerns are valid. Believe most of us post with advice based on
experience and most recommend vet care after providing support treatment
at home.
