Hello everyone,
 
Latest word on AB 409 is that it will probably, that's probably, be heard
on August 11th.  Please continue your efforts to get interested parties to
write to the members of the Senate Natural Resources Committee and oppose
this terrible bill.
 
On the California front, some of you will be confused by the CDFA newsletter
and FA newsletter because they say exactly opposite things.  CDFA said that
AB 363 will definitely come up in August and FA says it's dead.  Well,
neither is accurate.  AB 363 does not have a hearing date set and may not
come up at all, but it cannot and will not die until session is over (end of
August) and the Chairman of the Appropriations Committee might experience
some kind of Epiphany and do the right thing for Californians, you never
know.  But until then, the bill isn't dead and there's no guarantee that its
going to have its hearing either.
 
Of course, we prefer that the latter scenario is the one that prevails.
