You have to be patient.  With time, gentle touches, and kindness they will
get the message.  Mine bit too hard for a couple of months.  Through firm
but gentle reprimands, he realised that human skin is much softer than
ferret skin.  He was prolly 6 months old before he figured it out
completely.
