The Ferret Association of CT has a foster program.  We pay the medical
bills, but many foster parents pay them, and then they can claim it as a
taxable donation.  We also have limiations on medical expenses.  Anything
should be approved (other than clear emergencies).  Has rarely caused an
issue - though some folks want to use their own vet.  If higher than
ours, they agree to pay the excess.

The foster home provides food and litter, while the shelter takes care of
the vet bills.
