Yes, that is very true. If they can live with greater woes we can live
with a wait, esp. since they will extend subscriptions. BTW, this hasn't
been publicized widely , yet, but I learned that the "AFR" (the magazine
of the AFA) is also extending the subscriptions of all of their
subscribers, too, and they have issued a new mag just recently. Their
year-delay-causing-problem has been that they have been a volunteer
effort.

>I find it funny how no one is allowed to be displeased with Modern
>Ferrets services.

Actually, that is not the case. No one is pleased and we'd all like
what we do NOT have from ANY of the publications: timeliness and strong
accuracy BOTH. What folks object to is heaping insults and threats onto
folks who are suffering from the sorts of unavoidable horrors life visits
on each of each at various points in life. It's simply cruel, as far as
i am concerned. This discussion began because of a mention (that was not
at all cruel -- and there have been posts on both sides of this which have
not been cruel but also ones which have been) asking what was going on
and that person was displeased, but she was also fair and kind so no one
objected to her approach or her words. Maybe some people here just have
never been through a really rough patch themselves, or have never nursed
anyone through a life-threatening illness, or maybe some are going through
hard enough things themselves now that they feel a need to strike out at
someone (That can happen on both side if parties are stressed out and
often writers on each side don't know how bad their words sounded unless
they re-read them. What is usually worse, though, and has been happening,
are the private things sent by "defenders" that go way overboard such as
those L. received. Whatever the cause, there is a great difference
between being displeased but understanding versus being displeased and
saying cruel things to anyone on any side of an issue. Kicking people
when they are down is something we were supposed to learn to not do back
in nursery school or kindergarten. Thank you for kindly finding a way to
allow the point to be made that there are differences between being
displeased and being displeased in a tacky fashion.

>"oh, so sorry, but I don't have your money this month-I've been
>severely ill...could you kindly wait 6+ >months for the payments?"
>Where's the compassion for anyone?

Actually, there was a report on the news last night about a federal
program which helps folks who are in exactly that spot. Can't recall the
name of it but it exists and they had on an elderly lady who was able to
save her family home due to it (part of Fanny Mae perhaps?). Compassion
does exist. In case you ar ein this spot I'll sned this to you privately
in case it can help you. I like to think that I'd recall the name of
theprogram if I didn't has asthma kicking up now, but can't guarantee
that... Hope that you aren't suffering this, but that if you are this
helps you!

There is one other thing that has bothered my about this discussion and
that is that at least one of the time when there were discussions about
mags someone working for a competitor was writing in nasty stuff without
stating her income connection. I sure hope that none of the bad ones in
this case are the same situation but have quietly heard something in that
regard off-list. Rumor? True? Don't know, yet.

Yes, there are two sides to this, and I understand the frustrations both
with the non-timely but accurate mags, and with the timely buttoo often
inaccurate mags (BOTH of which have representatives here on the FML --
that I DO know.). I'd like to see BOTH types of mags improve. One that
stilluses non-ferret folsk to write and edit has vascillated with the
general direction being right. Still, there is no reason for the tones
and words that have been flying from some on each side of this, and --
YES -- I dothink that extending compassion to a business is NOT an unusual
act or one to be discouraged. There is enough room for improvement to go
around (including among all of us) and solutions have to be found, IMO
insults and the publicthreats are immature and unfitting from each side,
and they do not work toward findikng solutions.

****BIll, could the repetitive or nasty stuff stop, nad this be whittled
down to possible solutions or possible future directions -- constructive
stuff -- soon? I know that I'd sure appreciate that.*****

[Moderator's note: Not much nasty in my opinion except for a couple of
posts which somehow never got posted ;-)

I have my own fairly strong opinions about this, most of which are NOT
being brought up on the FML, but I'm going to stay neutral and not post
about it myself. If nobody posts anything new today then I think it's
time for the topic to drop. BIG]
