Melissa n gang here -

The cage i use (i have two of them) is called a 'cat cage.' It's thick
unbendable metal wire coated with a tough black plastic - easy to clean,
and no sharp edges. it stands 4 ft tall, is 3 ft long and 2 wide; it rests
on a wood-frame with a linoleum floor. The wood frame has casters, so the
entire cage rolls. The metal part also collapses so that you can transport
it as a 2x3x6" pile of wire. it comes with two carpeted shelves, but i've
had three additional wooden shelves made for each cage (very easy - plywood
cut 12"x18.5"). The bottom cleans up very easily, the wood is coated - the
biggest problem i've had is litter and food falling into the grooves in the
wood frame meant to hold the cage wire. Easily vacuumable. It cost about
$150 ordered through a pet store from the distributor - seeing as how most
3-level ferret cages are about that much, and this is some 24 sq. feet of
space - lots of room. I can post the distributor if anyone's curious.

Re: paralysis due to ECE ... Potpie's hind legs were frighteningly weak
during the worst parts of her disease and the first few days of her
recovery. Her hind legs frequently slipped out from under her. She
slowly got better - they're still a bit wobbly, but definitely improved.
Im not sure what the cause is, but you can look forward to improvement.
Good luck with the rest of 'em...
