Great!! Thanks, it's good to know! If you have anything already, on diseases
and symptoms in ferrets, I for one would be grateful to get it. You see, the
pet stores here...one always buys from Marshall's and the other have local
breeders. But 95% of all ferrets here are straight from Marshall's to the
pet store. Sadly there are no vets here that are knowledgable about ferrets.
So...when I had a question on Mama, one of mine...I took her to the vet, she
admitted not knowing much, as she doesn't work with them much. Then I went
back to the pet store near me...they knew nothing at all..they are the ones
with Marshall ferrets, and Mama was not fixed/descented...the only info they
could give was to have her fixed before her heat cycle...but as far as other
diseases...and sysmptoms I found nothing. I could buy a 15-20 dollar book,
but in my case I had you all...but the average MF new ferret owner knows
nothing except what the pet store says which is.."Buy THIS food
(outrageously expensive and no where near as good as Science Feline Growth)
and...this ferretone, a teaspoon a day....and that's it. Nothing else. No
symtoms etc.....well with no info...no clues as far as what to look for (The
store did say that loss of hair is only due to not enough ferretone ARGHH!
Nothing about tumors or anything else..it was upsetting to try and find
help.
Again, what saved me was this newsletter and ferret owners on a BBS.
But one of the things I'm seeing is kits go out...by the hundreds...and
never heard from again. You would think you'd hear people say things like,
"Oh I have one too" but nothing. It's always, "I used to have one."
Sorry to go on....I am in the process of reading everything I can get my
hands on...and then I'm going to try and get an idea about how many ferret-
owned people are here and then try to start a local club. So, I'd apprciate
any articles you could send! If it's easier to send them snail mail my

I'm also going to leave my Host up on my comm program. It's a mini BBS...and
I'll advertise the number in the paper. At least then I can get some idea of
who is around...someine with more experience than I have. And I'll ad the
voice line too of course, for folks with no computers. (GASP! Is there
anyone left w/o one? Hehehhehe! Kidding) I would die w/o mine. In fact, I'd
go w/o eating to have mine. I think I have..or come close. Hmm...hehehee!!!)

Good idea! I'm trying it. Mostly for that darn cat, who thinks he's a
ferret too, only uses my plants! Argh! The ferrets were broken of that, but
not the cat...he's more stubborn. Do ferrets smell before backing up? I will
have to watch. I'm sure they don't...unless it's just mine, but then...I
don't sit and watch everytime either. <G> Hhehe!!
