When I wrote the first letter I did not expect to be able to hear from Dr.
Stauber so rapidly, but I did so you can save your phone call dime and his
sparce time.

The way to make out the check to Washington State University and it should
have written on it that it is toward the Jean Smith FERRET account. Use
this address:

Dr. Eric Stauber
Department of Veterinary Clinical Studies
Washington State University
Pullman, WA 99164-7060

He said that at this point in time they have 8 dead ferrets in for testing
(Sounds like some tests there and some at Waddl.), and they have four living
ones there. He said that there is NO indication that the lady might be a
collector -- that they "are very beautiful animals ... in tip top shape,
except, of course, for these problems". He has not had any long term
relationship with the line so does not know of their longevity, though it
said that given their health it is feasible that she does indeed have an
extremely long-lived line as written yesterday in Jackie's letter. The gent
is someone who has had ferrets himself since the age of 5 and adores them.

ANY FUNDS YOU CAN SEND WILL BE APPRECIATED.

He also said that Jean Smith informed him that the police were present when
she was personally threatened by the young man, and that she most definitely
is in current danger of eviction so placing at least some ferrets (whether
temporarily or permanently) is a problem which might develop.
