I always recommend getting your ferret used to eating chicken baby food as
a treat so when the times that they are ill and don't feel like eating, it
won't be such a battle to hand feed. Before surgery is a good time to get
them used to the baby food. While some will eat their regular food shortly
after surgery, most will not. Other than that, I don't see a need to
change her diet before surgery, if it's a good one to begin with.

For the ferrets,
Mike
