Rogue, a 3yo red-eyed-white female ferret, just came out of surgery this
afternoon for adrenal gland tumor.

It's not good.

The tumor was wrapped around the vena cava in the *right* gland. The vet
removed as much of the tumor as possible. Left gland and rest of organs
were okay.

Treatment will be 1 week on Lysodren (I assume the med) with hopeful
reduction of the swollen vulva. Then Rogue will be taken off med for a
couple of weeks, then back on and off (somewhat verbatim from owner-Nicole).
Vet wants to do a "wait and see" before further treatment, if any.

Nicole is obviously concerned about Rogues' prognosis. The vet has the FML
FAQ on Adrenal Gland Disease, but I will be faxing to the vet (Dr.
Dererinski, 919/847-6216) the section on Dr. Williams comment that "you can
ligate the posterior vena cava in ferrets with large invasive right
adrenals", if it might help.

If Rogue is to be on Lysodren the rest of her life, can it be mailed ordered
less expensively?

Any info/suggestions/treatments/homeopathic/wishful thoughts can be emailed
directly to me, to forward to off-liner Nicole, with great appreciation!

Thanks in advance, Shari Gunter
