Dear Sandee,

Little Maximilian went to join you at Rainbow Bridge on January 8. I'm
sure the two of you have met and are having a wonderful time together,
romping and playing all over the fields and meadows.

Sandee, please give a message to Max for me. Tell him that while he was
being made healthy again and meeting all his new playmates, his daddy
lived up to his promise and buried his little body right where he said he
would. Tell him that his body is resting right next to where his daddy's
feet will be when Daddy comes to join him at the Bridge. Maximilian will
get a kick out of this -- tell him Daddy had to get the sexton distracted
while he was being laid to rest. Seems some humans have a silly idea that
only humans should be buried in human cemeteries. Well, Sandee, that
didn't hold true for Max. And he may not be the only fuzzy buried there
anyway. While Daddy was walking around, he noticed something very unusual
only about 150 feet away from Max's grave. There, atop a headstone is --
of all things -- a little granite ferret. And to make it even more
interesting, the date on the stone is 1897! It appears as if Daddy's
idea may not have been all that original after all.

Also tell him that he has a pretty dwarf Alberta spruce marking his
resting place. His little body is in one of the most beautiful places
on earth, never to be disturbed, since the cemetery is on the National
Register of Historic Places.

One more thing, Sandee -- please tell Maximilian that he still lives in
Daddy's heart and he is sorely missed.

C.B. (Missing Maximilian)
