I have been feeding my ferrets Maxximum Nutrition Kitten Food for years
now. Recently, we noticed that the formula seemed to change a bit, and
the ferrets got a bit picky with it, but still ate it. Now our Pumpkin
is ill with possible kidney disease. I got a news alert via email that
Hills is recalling dry food for contaminated gluten, and there was just
a mention on television about dry foods are now being recalled for
contamination. I am wondering if anyone else feeds this to their
ferrets, or even their kittens, and have there been any signs of
illness? Also, I am now wondering if dry cat foods are contaminated,
what does this mean for dry ferret food? Are there any that I can
switch to safely without worrying that are not made by Menu Brands? I
am not trying to panic or anything, but this is a concern with Punkie
getting sick out of the blue. Joshua is still fine though. I have a
call in to the 800 number on the bag, but they are "experiencing a high
volume of calls" and will get back to me so I figured in the meantime I
could post something here to see if anyone else had had kidney problems
with their ferrets recently that came about unexpectedly.

Thanks.
