Sharon,
Yell at me if you must and I'm in your yahoo group. I also will nip/bite
my young ferrets if they bite me. And YES, I bit my son when he was
little to let him know how it felt.

Ferrets that are purchased from a pet shop are taken from their moms WAY
TO YOUNG. When a kit bites their mom she will in turn, bite them back!
Since mom hasn't taught them this as they WERE taken away TOO young,
I feel it is acceptable to do the same as thier mother would do. Of
course, you should NOT draw blood by doing this even if they draw blood
on you. Just a nip/bite hard enough to let them know how it feels and
this usualy works and the bitting stops.

This is just my opinion from watching my moms raise their kits and how
they teach them what is acceptable and what is not in respect to biting.

Debi
