ANIMAL PEOPLE is a history and overview of the animal protection
movement in America. While the modern animal protection movement has
it roots in the Victorian era, concern for the welfare of animals goes
back centuries. Animal advocacy spans a wide philosophical spectrum,
and this 84-minute documentary examines the major players in the animal
protection movement past and present. Among those interviewed are Peter
Singer (Animal Liberation), Tom Regan (The Case for Animal Rights),
Ingrid Newkirk (PETA), Tippi Hedren (Roar Foundation), Ed Sayres
(ASPCA), Ed Boks (formerly NYCACC), Wayne Pacelle (HSUS), Miyun Park &
Paul Shapiro (Compassion Over Killing), NYC Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg,
Richard Avanzino (Maddie's Fund), Gene Bauston (Farm Sanctuary), Elliot
Katz (In Defense of Animals), Dr. Neal Barnard (PCRM) and many others.
