Vets are now talking with oncologists. We are hoping to find a gentle
chemo protocol designed for elderly ferrets. At Meeteetse's age and
condition (8 year old, F, MF, with multiple health problems) we keep
looking for ways to maintain or improve her quality of life, and so far
have given her a decent chunk of added quality time that way. Right now
we hope to pull down the size of her nodes given that they are getting to
the point where they bother her. It's a matter of time; we realize that.
She's just always been so good to us and we are trying to return some of
that love by helping her for when she can be helped. At some point she'll
need that final gift, but that time isn't here, yet. May be tomorrow, may
be next week, may be next month. Just taking it a day at a time, and right
now our info search is for chemo protocols for lympho in the elderly to
reduce symptoms when possible and aid in comfort. Today wasn't a great day
for her, some good points (like time with her furry friends, kissing, and
running in her sling) but more bad points today for her than over the last
few days; that could be a temporary glitch since have seen them before.
She hates anything touching her nodes at all now.

* If you have tried one of the chemotherapy protocols for the elderly let
us know details and your vet consultation contacts, please.

* Oh, we have found that we can help temporarily return the proper curve to
her lumbar area and that we do that it gives her a great deal of comfort
from the spinal problem; she sighs happily, ears go right up, eyes shine,
and mad kissing begins. The pain meds help, too, but some days she only
needs three doses instead of four thanks to the returning her curve. that
is a big help.
