Hi all,

This weekend my partner and I are taking a drive up to Sydney to choose my
very first ferret. The ferrets that I will have a choice from are between
12-16 weeks old but what I am mainly wondering about is what way should I
act/behave to keep the ferret calm and reassured once we get back home (3
1/2 hour drive).

I have been around animals all my life so I have the "basics" but are
there any tricks of the trade especially effective for ferrets? I have a
ferret-proofed room (8x10 feet) of which will be his/her home but does
everyone think that it may be good to keep him in his cage at first
(apart from play and all the love I can give) to let him get used to the
environment and toilet trained etc.

Cheers,

Rob.
