Things have been good. Jim cleaned all the cages last night without
gloves, and only got nailed once by a hob he thinks he startled. Albeit,
some of the worst biters were still a little under the weather after
surgery. But 1 out of 61 is pretty good odds :-) Even Fugly seems to be
calming down. Some of the folks that have been coming by to help have laid
claim to some of the ferrets, although, like everyone else, they need to
wait until the ferrets are medically ready to leave. One of the hobs was
"woofing" up a storm last night. Yuck!!

Last night we sent two "regular" shelter ferrets home to their wonderful
new mom, who has been approved since early December. They will be spoiled
rotten by her :-)

Today saw one "regular" shelter ferret, an older guy with pretty advanced
adrenal problems and the four sweet, older MF adrenal cases from the
Christmas Rescue bunch also leave to their new home. This does NOT mean
they are all ready to go. This home is very close by, and only accepts
older and handicapped ferrets. They have taken in many of our hard to
place ferrets for several years now, and there is a special place in heaven
for them. They use the same vet as we do, and we will have the adrenal
surgeries done when Dr. Kim has a little more time, but we didn't want to
hold the ferrets in the shelter any longer than we had to.

We've had so many calls from so many wonderful people offering to lend a
hand! Your assistance is soooo appreciated...BUT...there is a major storm
predicted for this weekend. I don't want ANYONE thinking the situation is
so desperate that you risk life and limb to come. Please, if it is not
safe to travel, stay home. We have volunteers lined up for the next week
or so at this point in time :-) Due to changing vet schedules (we are
working with Dr. Kim's schedule, other clients will come first) and
weather conditions, please call before you come!!!!

The ferrets received some beautiful hammocks from Fran in Islandia--thanks!

Thanks to Sukie for "doing her thing"--she knows what I am talking
about :-)

Diane Burman, Kim and Lisa came today to help clean cages. I wasn't able
to get off from work at either job, and Jim is busy taking ferrets for
surgeries, so it was a Godsend that they were able to come today.

The ferrets still need toys, and we'll need litter (Yesterday's News, Kozy
Korner or Marshalls brand please) before to long. Otherwise I think we
have everything we need :-) The generosity has been overwhelming!!!

Again, thanks!

Anne
