Back in, I believe it was the early 1990's, there was a supposed ferret
related infant death in Hillsborough, OR. The police report is confusing,
but they did lay the blame on the ferret. The child was in the room
next to the sleeping parents, who didn't wake up. There were dogs in the
home also. Some of the bite mark descriptions seem to me to be better
associated with a dog attack rather than a ferret, but many of the bite
mark widths did match the ferret's jaw. I don't know if we'll ever know
for sure what happened. That is the only "ferret related" infant death
that I know of in this country. There was one, much earlier in or around
London, England, I believe.
