I'm surprised that no one suggested a really obvious solution--sell the evil
recliner and use the money to pay the vet bills!
 
I don't think this should be a controversial rule for households with
ferrets: Get rid of all recliners!
 
We've all heard of the horror stories of ferrets severely injured and killed
in recliners, and if you hadn't before, you have now.
