Amber asked about giving ferrets Pepto and Gatorade.

You can give ferrets both. Pepto Bismal is a medicine, and should not be
administered without the approval of your vet, who will also give you the
correct dosage. Gatorade and Pedialyte are both good for a ferret with
diarreah to help combat dehydration. Again, if your ferret is sick, see a
ferret knowledgeable vet. While taking information from the FML and other
sources to your vet is appropriate, they are not substitutes for an office
visit.

Debbi wrote about 2 Pole Pumpkin:
It's my understanding that the folks from TN did indeed by all of the
stock of 2 Pole Pumpkin. I saw these folks at a couple of ferret shows,
and their ferrets looked beautiful. I regretfully can't recall their
names right now. Hopefully they'll do a good job with their breeding,
and take excellent care of all their ferrets like they seem to do their
show ferrets.

Amy wrote about registries:
This has been done several times over, and never really seemed to
work/last. Personally, as most of mine are shelter ferrets, and have
limited or no history, I couldn't be bothered with the paperwork. In fact,
I would think anyone who wasn't breeder couldn't be bothered. There would
be no benefit to it, other than maybe breeders IMHO. Most breeders keep
decent track of their lines anyhow, and most ferrets from private breeders
come with pedigrees. I would imagine there are some folks who would be
interested, but I don't know if it would be enough to make it worthwhile.
Sorry.

Cheryl asked about Silica based litter:
I wouldn't use it. I'd be afraid of the ferrets ingesting it. I have
absolutely no idea of the medical repercussions, but it just doesn't sound
very healthy. I know when I purchase shoes or a coat that has one of the
little packets of silica in the box or pocket there are dire warnings all
over the packet about not eating it. I'd love to hear from people who know
more about this substance and it's potential hazards or if it is completely
safe.
