A friend brought to my attention that the Humane Society of North Texas (in
Fort Worth) has a ferret up for adoption.  Please, if you're considering
adopting a ferret, see about helping this little guy out!  This is not a
ferret only shelter, and I know that at least for dogs, they do have a
time limit on how long they can keep them.  This organization has been
unfriendly in the past, but more friendly in recent years with the club
here.  In another "friendly" phase the director of this organization told
us that their euthanasia rate was about 80%.  As appalling as that sounds,
they were very proud of it because the groups they network with nationally
had an average rate of more like 96%!
