I wrote some weeks ago this little thing, and perhaps you will like it.
 
I had to translate it in English - thanks Jenni for your precious revision
and advice - so probably some of the poetry it has in the original language
was lost.  But it is the concept that is important.
 
 
   THE EYES OF YOUR FRIEND
 ----------------------------------------
 
Look every day into the eyes of your friend.
 
be he a Ferret or a Dog
a Cat or a Squirrel
a Gerbil or a Parrot.
 
You will find there all he wants to tell you,
as he cannot speak to you.
 
He has no words
to ask for help
if he is hungry, thirsty or sick.
 
No words to express
sadness for the scolding
of a prank,
no words for his sorrow because
your duties
did not allow you
to play with him.
 
No words for
his happiness for your
interest in him
and all the love he feels for you.
 
And then talk to him,
he understands you,
so that he will feel sure of this:
 
you are not his owner,
you are his elder brother,
you are his friend,
and he is important for you
as much as you are for him.
 
Look every day into the eyes of your friend.....
