               Cascade Ferret Network Open House!

The Cascade Ferret Network is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax exempt shelter
that provides ferret rescue and adoption services for the Pacific
Northwest. The Oregon Humane Society, the Southwest Washington Humane
Society and Multnomah County Animal Control, as well as other agencies
further afield, depend upon the Cascade Ferret Network to deal with the
ferrets they receive.

Since its humble beginnings in 1998, the Cascade Ferret Network (CFN) has
taken in 300 abused, abandoned and otherwise homeless domestic ferrets and
found new homes for 230. Originally, the shelter ferrets that could not
be placed in foster homes were housed in the personal living space of the
Network Coordinator, but the available space was soon exceeded and a change
in procedure was desperately needed. Recently, a totally remodeled space
dedicated exclusively to the shelter ferrets was completed, and the new
1200 square foot facility includes a kitchen and office area, five
interconnected rooms for housing shelter ferrets and their playgrounds, a
laundry room, and bathroom. The CFN is excited to open the doors of its
new facility to the public on Thursday, January 11th from 10:00 AM through
8:00 PM and again on Saturday January 13th from 10:00 AM through 6:00 PM.

Tours of the shelter will occur every 30 minutes. Ferrets are encouraged
to attend, but not required. Complimentary ear cleaning, ear mite checks,
and nail clipping (for ferrets) will be available throughout the day.
Other highlights of the Open House event include a entertaining and
education videos on ferrets, kid's activities, prizes, new and used ferret
merchandise for sale, educational displays and handouts, and refreshments
for humans and ferrets.
