My boy Jeffrey has lost the hair on his little rump and it's starting to
work up his tail now. I was hoping he was just having a funky coat
change, but nothing seems to be growing back. The area is roughly 1"x 2"
in an upside down "V" pattern. He's eating great, pooping great, running
about and frolicking with great gusto, and doesn't seem more aggressive
than usual. All he's showing is a slight weight loss and a naked rump.
Both of which could be funky coat change or adrenal.

I called my vet to see if he did the TN Panel (?) test for adrenal. He
had no idea what I was talking about, but seemed very willing to learn
more (a character trait we LOVE in our vets!)

Question 1: The Tennessee Panel is the new, somewhat accurate test for
ferret adrenal disease, right?

Question 2: Web addresses, etc. that I could direct my vet toward? How
do I get him on the FHL or into the FML archives? I am not very Web
savvy.

Question 3: What else could this be other than adrenal or funky coat
change? He's not scratching or chewing his fur. I haven't changed
detergents or food or treats or anything. I have no idea. He doesn't
act sick or tired or abnormal. He's just getting "nekkid". I'm stumped.

Question 4: How would my vet go about getting the TN Panel test should
that be the one we need? Is there a better way to check for adrenal? Do
you just call the Univ. of TN vet school?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Anne
