We have used this type of litter as well as others. this litter absorbes
really well. The only problem is, after it has been used a few times, it
smells like newspaper. Like if you get print on yours hands...that smell.
What we do now is take crushed stone litter and put the news pellets on
top...not a lot just a handful or two. This helps absorb before it hits the
bottom and keeps the smell down. I have never heard it to be harmful. Our
local ferret shelter uses it the same way we do. I hope that helps.

Yes!!! We have called them from their names from day one. If Rascal is
doing something wrong, all we have to do is say his name in that "MOM" tone
and he stops (usually). Digger knows his name and if he is in the other
room and you call his name, he will come running. Thunder is hilarious. If
he is running by at top speed and you interupt by calling his name, he will
stop, come over and hiss at you. Then, he will continue chasing or war
dancing or what ever he was doing. So yes, all three of our fuzzits know
their names.
