Hi to all and especially to Dr. Williams.
 
I wrote a few days ago asking for help.  Josie had what looked like a boil
on her rectum.  Thank you Dr. Williams.  Your advice was appreciated.  It
put our mind at ease (the unknown is a fearful thing at times) and we were
able to go to the vets just that much more educated.
 
Update: Josie has enflamed (perhaps blocked) anal glands.  One of them is
seeping and the other one is perhaps blocked but she is on Chlorpalm, which
is a antibiotic and we are putting warm packs on her bum 4 to 5 times a day.
We try to keep the spot open on the one that is seeping so that it will not
close up before it gets better.  We are to go back in a few days to make
sure that things are O.K.  If they are not improving, she may have to get
these glands unblocked and eventually she may have to be decented.
 
Our regular vet is still away but we are very fortunate to have more than
one ferret smart vet in the animal hospital that we go to.  I would be one
paniky mother (especially with 11 fuzzies to worry about) if we did not
have this luxury.
 
We also had some personal responses which were helpful and appreciated.
Thanks to all.  Of course the rest of our managerie thank you too since
they benefit from your knowledge and experiences.
