One problem with bug killing chemicals is that most have what is called a
second kill. When the bug dies from the chemical, by eating or contact, it
will transfer that poison to whatever eats it. Fogging compounds also lay
a light layer of the chemical on everything they touch. This chemical will
be everywhere and in contact with whatever touches the surfaces. One of
the problems with fogging as far as bug killing, is that it doesn't get
deep into cracks and walls, just on top. If there isn't a large bug
population the odor may deter them a bit.

Avert gel is a fungicide type bug killer and it can be squirted into cracks
and crevices where the ferrets won't have contact. Boric acid can be
placed in the walls by taking off light and plug plates and squirting it in
around the inside. Both of these methods may be helpful, but again, any
bugs that die in the open should be swept or vacuumed up to avoid contact
with ferrets. I've used Avert and it is a thick gel that normally stays
where you squirt it. I read an article that mentioned using Avert gel
and Victor Pheromone traps are useful in killing roaches.

A natural arachnid remedy (don't know if it will work on roaches) is -
1 reg size bottle of tearless baby shampoo
2 oz of real Lavender oil
Pour out enough shampoo to add Lavendar oil, shake. Mixture will turn
white when ready. Place around foundation, doors, windows, cracks, on
outside of building.

Hugs to all. tle
