Suki,
Please don't take this as a personal attack on you as it is not. Have
YOU ever seen anaphylactic shock in a ferret??

Well I have, 3 times with 3 of my ferrets that received their Fervac
Distemper booster shots.( One was from a breeder and the other two were
from pet shops.) One was a year old and the other two were 2yrs old.
Anaphylactic "SHOCK" is survivable "IF" treated as soon as it starts and
quickly. Once you see Anaphylactic Shock, you will never forget it.
Their eyes turn beet red (even if they're normally black) and so does
their skin, ALL the hair on their bodies stands straight out like a
bottle brush and stiff. They were rigid and sometimes they salivateted,
but they were always unresponsive to stimuli.

Two of them almost died if it were not for our vet. The first one that
was a year old did die, but our vet was able to bring him back due to
his quick thinking.

Anaphylactic Shock (not an allergic reaction) is fatal if you do not
know what to look for and treat it ASAP. This is the only time it is
survivable. This is why we encourage people to ask their vet to give the
vaccine "FIRST" and then do the physical exam as well as having distemper
and raibies shots done at different times. ( This way you will know what
your furkid IS reacting to. This way you will already be at the vets
office about 30-45 minutes.
