I just found out that my ferret Bandit (nickname stinky) has adrenal
disease. We noticed that he started to become bald on his back and also
on his stomach. The baldness is symmetrical, which I am told is the
sign that it is the disease. We brought him to our vet, to confirm the
disease and she is doing everything that she can for us. We live in a
rural area, so we do not have specialists that treat the disease. She is
in contact with Cornell to discuss treatment. I would like to know the
success rate of the surgery as compared to any possible drug treatment.
How long can I expect my ferret to live for? I know that there is a lot
of talk of people with ferts going through this, so please help me. He
is my first ferret and is only three years old. I am going to miss him
and I don't know how to help him the best. I have two other ferrets and
I am hoping that this doesn't happen to them. If there is anyone that
could help me with information about the disease and the recommended
treatment course, I would be thankful. You can write me at
