Lisette, I for one know EXACTLY what you mean. When I was becoming
devestated by losing my fur-kids the only sympathy or understanding I
received (outside of a few close friends) were from FML members. Complete
strangers <well, some of you are stranger then others ; ) > took the time
to write my with sympathy, prayers, and condolences. My family ? Well, it
was "Gee, too bad. But, it was only an animal". They could not understand
that THESE ARE MY CHILDREN !
For a long time my mother has tried to convince me to give up my life in
Oregon and move back to NJ. That is, after all, where my relatives are. I
have tried explaining how difficult it would be with all the ferts. Her
response is always to just get rid of the stinky animals. To give a better
idea, this is how our last phone call went:
ME "Well mom, the holidays were rather bad. I had 6 ferrets die
unexpectedly."
MOM "Well, that's less you have to get rid of, then you can move back out
here ....
ME "Sorry you feel that way mom" - <click>
