The Mighty Siegfried (Who crossed the bridge last April 15th) once got
into (among other things) a basket of wedding candy.
 
While I was unaware of this, I witnessed him hop to the corner and
produce a large pool of bright red liquid stool.  I stood dumbfounded and
was ready to grab the carrier and whisk him off to the vet; when I came
to my senses and realized that bloody stools are usually black and tarry,
and a ferret loosing that much fresh blood would certainly show some
other symptom of distress.
 
Seeing that he was still happily bouncing around, I looked for an
alternative possibility to his malady.  In his cabinet stash I found some
lace covered wedding favors and an almost entirely eaten individual size
package of Twizzlers.  I can't believe he ate the whole thing!!!
 
Fortunately Siegfried suffered no harm from the incident, except that I
locked him in early for getting onto the kitchen counter.
