hi everyone,
 
its been awhile since i have posted anything but i wanted to share this
story with you.
 
we went to oregon from new mexico this last week actually we just got back
5 hrs ago, we have four ferrets, two females that came together a baby
about 6 mo's old, and then rusty he was a rescue ferret i have posted a
few times about him.  we took the girls and the baby with us figureing it
would be to hard for rusty the rescue ferret.
 
well we went to las vegas to see my mom and the air conditioner blew out,
let me tell you it was really hot, we had pulled over for awhile to try an
fix it no luck..  so we pulled out all of are water and wet down towels and
blankets put one blanket over the ferret cage and a few wet towels in the
cage it self, opened all the windows and flew like a bat out of hell, it
was so hot i was putting ice on the top of the cage and in it, we pulled
into las vegas later that night tomie was kinda acting weird run down i was
figureing it was because it was his first trip anywhere, the girls were
from new york so i knew they had traveled in the past.
 
we stayed in a hotel suite that night so we cranked up the air conditioner
and kept the ferrets with us trying to cool them down.  the next day we
kept them at my mom's in her apt didnt want them riding around las vegas
anyway we left vegas around 4pm thinking it would be cooler for the ferrets
if we traveled more at night, we drove to reno, nevada thank god we stopped
that night it was hot and we were tired and figured the ferrets needed a
break as well,
 
well tomie had black slushy poopie's nasty all over almost like chalk, as
soon as i saw that i knew from reading stories from here that we had to get
pediolite in him and fast, nothing was open i was so mad, i kept giving him
water and ferretvite but it didnt seem to help any, when we woke up in the
morning my husband thought he was handing me a dead ferret then he took a
breath, i jumped out of bed ready to take him to the nearest vet the hell
with the vacation money, my husband calmed me down and we went and picked
up two big bottles of the pedolite non-flavored figureing it would be more
like water, we drove the rest of the way through nevada finally hitting
california and the temp dropped alot, im driving and my poor husband is
trying to force pedolite down tomie, every hour pedolite and ferretvite and
a danish he just wouldnt let me eat lol, as soon as we left that god alwful
climate he felt better and got alot better ate the whole rest of the trip
with no problems and traveled great.  by that time we were just putting the
pedolite in the water bottle thinking it couldnt hurt the girls to have
some to.
 
well i really think god was with us today when we left oregon it was
raining and stayed cool all the way back to new mexico, we re-routed are
trip not to include nevada, when we got home my sister in law who sorta
adopted rusty came running out side to tell us rusty was dying she called a
bunch of vets she is really new to having a ferret so i figured she was
over reacting a bit, nope she wasnt he has lost so much weight its not
funny, the vets she called said that rusty was finally ajusting to having
all the other ferrets around and just went down hill, thank god i still
have some pedolite left thats what the vets told her to give him and some
baby food i figure we will try the turkey and even though he hates
ferretvite he will be getting some in the dropper, if we can find him he
has hidden him self rather well..
 
alot of people had one question and i quote..  is that a rat... i swear im
getting little sweaters made with the saying no im not a rat written on
them..  anyway that was are adventure hug all your fuzz butts for me as
i will be doing alot of here,
