I just heard back from Sherry in Customer Relations at Petco Headquarters.
They WILL be carrying Modern Ferret again after the Halloween issue!
 
Sherry said, "Well, there was a centerfold in this issue that ... even
though it was just harmless and in fun ... some people found objectionable.
There are a lot of activists out there, and we have to keep them happy, but
we will definitely be carrying this magazine again in the future.  It's
hard to find good ferret information out there, and this is a good
publication".
