Just wanted to give everyone a quick update on how we are doing on the
online calendar of events.

We are working hard on this project, and we are making some real head way
on it as well. We have been delayed a bit because we are trying to make
this as useful of a tool as possible, and that can take some time when you
are coding such a complex program by hand.

Here is a list of the planned features(not all features will necessarily be
available when we launch):

* List style calendar view: This style of calendar like the AFA calendar
here http://www.ferret.org/events/events.htm (But much more functional
and informative), rather than a standard calendar view like you'll see
here http://calendar.esscripts.com/index.php, because you can fit much
more information on screen, especially for people with small displays.

* User submitted events: This will include all of the information about
the event at a glance, as well as a detailed info page on each event that
can be created, if you want, with a simple, easy to use, yet powerful
editor right from our page. Something like what you see here
http://www.unica.edu/uicfreesoft/wysiwyg_web_edit/info_wysiwyg_web_edit_eng.html

* Viewing of all events or only those in certain categories: such as
shows, club meetings, online auctions, etc.

* Automatic notification by e-mail: to individuals or to the FML (if that
is OK with the moderators?) when new events are added or on a scheduled
basis.

Any features you would like to see, let us know and we will do our best to
implement them, this calendar is for everyone, we are just trying to make
it a reality.

[Moderator's note: We'd have to see how it works to see if it's OK for
the automatic notification to the FML, but it sounds possible! BIG]
