On the subject of ferrets needing blood donars, our vet found it very
frustrating to try and find someone both willing and available to help
out in emergencies.  So frustrated in fact that we went out and got two
ferrets.  The currently live with he and his family but he would really
like to find a home for them with other ferrets.  So he's offered to pay
for all medical care and the caregiver takes care of the feeding care.
 
Don't know if other vets have thought to do it but I like the idea.
