This is for Sarah who asked for some help on her ferret with insulinoma.
Sarah, I would honestly find another ferret knowledgable vet ASAP!! I
am shocked at your vet sending you away saying she does "not have the
facilities" to do bloodwork for insulinoma..........any vet that cannot
do the test in house themselves will draw the blood & then send it out
to a lab (it is common practice here in Canada, but it may be different
where you are) & it is not usually cost prohibitive. There is good
medical treatment out there for insulinoma, & altho it will get your
ferret in the end, he could have some good quality time left if treated.
He needs treatment though, soon! Good luck!
