Hey Todd, as a sugar-addict girl, there is no surprise in your question
(except maybe, that you didn't know the answer).
 
They say the true rule is five seconds, but personally I'd give it a half
hour, as long as you're sure about what may or may not have happened to
the cookie in that half hour.  If however the cookie has chocolate, then
there is no time limit (as long as no one is looking).  Well, the ferrets
can be looking, as long as they promise not to tell anyone!
