$72/year (regular checkup and shots) for 2 animals seems OK to me. I paid
$30 for a well-visit to a new vet in November, and $15 today to learn how to
cut nails (I'm used to dogs and wasn't really comfortable without having
seen it done properly). In June we do shots (~$30/) and with various other
stuff, I assumed $100Can/year before emergencies for one animal.
$1Can~$0.72US now for comparison (mind you, cost of living here may be
somewhat higher than yours, we average higher overall, I think?).

Hope this helps,

Megan and Monster
