My prayers go out to you both..  they just don't live long enough..
 
I don't know if it would have helped, but might mention for the future...
My cat Jimmy when she was 17 yrs old, was diagnosed with liver failure and
anemia.  I gave her 2cc of pet tinic for the ameia, and 1cc of liquid-non
alcohol milk thistle (abt. 65 mg) twice a day for a week, then once a day
for 3 more weeks, & the blood tests were then "completely normal"..
Sometimes we can make a good difference, other times it's maby just their
time to go, having many other problems.  At least here's something that
can be tried with no bad side effects.
