You might want to check out this Animal Hospital.  I take my ferret to Dr.
Marth Demson DVM, she is a very knowledge vet on Ferrets.  I don't know if
they take interns, but you can try.
 
Here is the address.  They are located just outside "Utica, NY" This is a
very nice hospital.  I beleive there are 7 vets.  Dealing with cats, dogs
and exotic animals.  Small animal practice.
