As I had written, Nibble-ed passed on a couple weeks back leaving Byte-me
and Kodo.

Kodo, a big male, is aloof in relationships. He is happy being a loner
and hasn't bonded to anyone except me to some extent. He does not seek
others to curl up with except when it is cold and is just fine doing his
own thing.

Byte-me has always liked other company. She used to preen Nib and those
two would curl up in a ball no matter what the temp. I noticed the first
day Nib was gone Byte-me was looking for her, checking out all the places
Nib would be. I figured that would pass in a day or so but it lasted a
week. Then I thought Byte-me would adjust, but she hasn't.

Byte-me used to war dance for me in the morning but has not once since
Nib is gone. Byte-me stays quiet and off to the side not anxious to
participate in what I am doing, most unusual. Yesterday she was curled
up on the floor in the bedroom so I got on all 4s to pet her. She woke
and lay her head and body on my hand while staying very still. She seems
to not expect to get attention anymore and is not as open to being played
with.

No doubt she is experiencing emotional stress from loss of Nib. As an
animal, I don't expect her to know or remember what happened but she sure
does know and feel the lack of her friend around the house. Is sad, but
like I did, will have to over come this.

I pay more attention to her lately, so maybe she will find other
emotions. Animals are amazing. They are more like us than most realize.
It is said that animals have no souls. For sure, there are many I would
love to see in the after life with me (provided I go in the desirable
direction..).

Ha !

Gordon, Byte-me, and Kodo
