Milli means a thousand. The word million is derived from a word which
literally meant a thousand-thousand. (Ah, the joy of a good dictionary.)
"m" is used in many areas to mean a thousand.

We had a ferret on whom we spent about $11,500 but we always knew he
would die younger than usual, anyway, due to severe deformities. The
money wasn't with hopes of getting him a normal lifespan and it was spent
knowing that his problems would continue. It was just to get him as much
quality time as he could have.

There are those here who have spent more, either in adjusted dollars or
current ones to help a sick ferret.

Even those of us who are not infected are affected by viruses/worms. I'm
getting about 1/5th of the mail I usually get and I have heard similar
percentages from friends. There is no way to know how many people just
can't send mail now vs. how many messages are being destroyed as
infected vs. how many messages are being trashed indiscriminantly by
over-burdened servers so they never reach me. That seems to be true for
a lot of people, and I am now assuming that if I don't get a reply to
something I sent that an over-burdened server somewhere along its transit
has trashed the mail.

Steve just now told me some things which have made me very sad and I'd to
ask for a moment of silence in respect. Today we reached the point where
more Americans have died in Iraq since Bush publicly declared peace than
died during combat. There are today now also over a thousand Americans
seriously injured there and over 400 who are new amputees. I apologize
for not knowing the numbers for those of other nationalities or the
numbers of innocent Iraqi bystanders; I realize that I should know. The
Vietnam War was a very hard time for me and the memories bring me sadness
(and I was not among those who served so I didn't know the worst of it
by any means) so the echoing aspects of this war have been very sad for
me. Please, just take a moment of silence now to reflect on those lost
and those who have lost so much and to hope for a workable peaceful
cooperative solution which ends the bloodshed for everyone soon.

[Moderator's note: Re: e-mail outages. I'd say only about 30% of the
FML's AOL subscribers are actually receiving it this week -- AOL trashes
the rest, though many AOLers ask for the issues directly and do receive
them that way (mailing-list e-mail gets low priority).

Also, ferretlovers.com is rejecting all e-mail. For one, that means
Sandee is temporarily offline. BIG]
