Hey guys, I think I've found an answer to the "great migrating litter pan"
problem. [Which is not to say that Burnie will actually use the pan, but if
I can keep him from making piddles & poos in the corner behind it, at least
it will be easier to keep his area clean.]

My solution? Cage clips! You know, those things that look like they came
from the end of a dog leash. I get them from Home Depot, where the
selection of size and style is greater than carried by pet stores. Some of
mine have a hook on the end where the swivel is usually found, and this
makes it easy to hook them on the cage wire while I have the doors open.

Burnie has a litter pan on each of 2 levels, and the lower one was twist
wired, through holes I drilled in the pan, to the side of the cage. It was
hard to untwist the wire & remove the pan for cleaning as a piece of
furniture sets right next to the cage. Limited light and access, requiring
kneeling on the floor, reaching behind things, and leaning into the cage to
feed the old twisted wire through the cage. Arrrg. Desperation/frustration
led me to snap a couple of cage clips through the wire and onto the rim of
the litter pan. It worked! There's enough tension to hold the pan in
place, and if I enlarge the drill holes to accomodate the tip of the clips
it will be totally secure and a LOT easier to remove for cleaning.

I'm now short a pair of clips for the doors - each door now has 1 instead of
2, so it's back to Home Depot this evening, but I need to replace one of my
pieces of acrylic barricade anyway. In the opening from the computer room
to the living room I use a sheet of acrylic 60 inches long and 30 high. The
kitchen doorway had a sheet 36 x 36, but I put it outside the kitchen entry
door to keep the cat from leaving the deck and it blew in the river! While
I'm there I'll also look for the black plastic flex pipe that's such a good
buy.

Now, if I could just get Burnie to actually USE the pan! I swear he must
think his name is "No, no, IN the pan, IN the pan"!

Oh, and Michael honey, I think you can probably skip that part, and will go
straight to having the little plastic bag.

Warm fuzzy thoughts everyone,

Georgia
