Thank you Sukie for posting this. I don't feed my ferrets cat food but
I do have 12 cats that I feed Special Kitty. I called my local WalMart
and the assistant manager said that the home office puts a block on any
recalled foods even before the individual stores are notified of the
recall. When a food is blocked, any of the bad food will show up as
blocked at the register and it can't be rung up. Of course, once the
individual store is notified that there is a recall, the product is
immediately removed from the shelf. The assistant manager said that he
did not show a second recall from Mars at this time because it may take
a day or two for the notification to be received from the home office
but he guaranteed that the home office has already put a block on the
food and it can not be rung up at any register. Personally, I'm not
sure I trust the whole idea that my local store is not aware of the
recall but that a distant home office has it taken care of. I think I
am going to start spending a few dollars more and buy something other
than Special Kitty. Two recalls in the space of a couple of months
from the same company really un-nerves me.

Thanks again.:)
Pat
