I went to the mall to do some shopping today, and they were having a
health awareness fair, with booths set up by all sorts of health-related
businesses and organizations. The Albany County Health Dept. had a
booth dealing mainly with rabies and lyme disease. Their display
included a quiz machine that let you test your knowledge of rabies and
give the right answer with explanations. The part on domestic pets and
rabies listed ferrets right after cats and dogs as being among the
animals that can be safely and effectively vaccinated.

Amid tons of misinformation, it's nice to know that at least some health
departments have their facts straight. Congratulations and thanks are
due.
