To Matt Ouimette:

Matt - Just got a look at the ovarian tumor that Dr. Jones sent me. the
diagnosis is a low-grade leiomyosarcoma (tumor of smooth muscle) of the ovary.
Tumors of smooth muscle are reported to be the most common neoplasm of the
reproductive tract in the ferret. In our experience, these tumors are often
expansile, may be mildly infiltrative, and have low metastatic potential. Close
clinical followup of this patient is warranted in this case. I would consider
this particular specimen to have a good prognosis. Thank you for submitting
this case to the Registry of Veterinary Pathology.
