Quick question on clipping toe nails (ferret toe nails that is! (-: )
They seem to be clear on the end, have a small section of white, then
thin red vein.

When clipping I stay away from red area but feel like I should clip close
to the white area. My fuzzies on the other hand (paw) feel that I should
avoid the white area as well, they have let me know this by pulling their
paws away and scratching me in their attempts to escape. I am afraid of
not clipping enough (I've heard that the red vein area will grow longer -
is that true) but I don't want to hurt them by cutting into the white -
they clearly don't like it. I use baby nail clippers but am welcome to
other suggestions. There is only me at clip time so I put ferretone on
their belly.

Also I try scruffing them when I clean their ears. They still squirm and
try to escape me (no one likes Mommy's grooming). I support their bums
and scrunch the fur at the back of their neck. Am I doing this wrong? I
thought they are supposed to be immobile when you scruff them.

I would appreciate any info or advice! Thanks!
Risa
