The mist was rising up off of the meadow when The Receiving Angel
arrived at his station. He was very tired and did not sleep well last
night. He was apt to worry that the new arrivals to the Bridge might
not settle in well. Sometimes he just stared at the cloud cover and
worried. While he was sitting there mulling over the latest arrivals,
a young ferret wandered up the path to the gate.

"Well Hello" said The Receiving Angel. I was waiting for you, your
Falcor, right? You have become quite famous in your 4 years on earth.
We don't get to see films up here what with the sunspots and all, but
now and again, we get the news.

Falcor sat down on a small stool. "Boy, I'm tired. This was quite a
hill to climb. Where am I anyway? This does not look like home.

"Falcor, you are at The Rainbow Bridge", The Receiving Angel replied.
"You were called and I was notified you were coming, but I just did
not know when."

Just then No. 421 made his way to his chair at the bridge. "Ho ho" he
said. "I see you arrived before me. I'm No. 421 and I will take you
around and help you get settled. Now, what is it you like to do most?"

Falcor thought for a few minutes. "I guess I like to help ferrets get
themselves together," Falcor said. "I'm sitting here and I'm all
alone. I would love it if someone took me around, introduced me to
the other ferrets and made me feel at home."

The Receiving Angel was taking note of everything Falcor said. He was
called away sometimes and sometimes he had help but most times,
everyone was busy. When he came back, a ferret or two was sitting
there ready to cry and that made the Bridge Greeting late.

Falcor's little face lit up. "Really, you mean that, I could help out
and make ferrets feel good about being here?"

"Why yes," The Receiving Angel said. "You could be an ambassador up
here like you were down home. This is your new home now, and I think
it would be great. That way, I could have a little time off if I
needed it.

Falcor was smiling and his eyes were twinkling. No. 421 sent Bluebird
to see if Oliver was back from Bakin'Bertha's bakery yet. Since Honey
arrived, he spent a lot of time down there picking out the dozen of
cookies he wanted one cookie at a time. No. 421 was wondering where
he had ended up when he heard him coming up the path.

"What took you so long?" No. 421 said. "We have a new arrival and I
think you two will get along really well. Falcor will be working
part-time with The Receiving Angel and I thought you might show him
around. Let him meet a few ferrets and make some friends".

"Okay" Oliver said. "Hey Falcor, I was going to go over and check on
last weeks arrivals, why don't you come along and we'll see what you
can do."

Falcor got up and walking over to the desk, he smiled and thanked
The Receiving Angel.

"Now when my human Mom gets my greeting, she will know I am here
and happy doing the work that I like," Falcor said.

"Okay Oliver, let's get going. I want to see everything and meet all
the ferrets that are here. Oh yes, and could you bring those cookies?
They smell wonderful and I'm a little hungry."

The two ferrets walked back down the path. No. 421 looked at The
Receiving Angel and the two smiled. "If you want cookies, you better
go see Bakin' Bertha yourself," the Angel said. "Those two will make
short work of those cookies."

No. 421 stood up and chuckled. The Angel was right, he had a raisin
stew on the stove at home and some rolls and cookies would go well
with that.

Later that night, while he was waiting for Oliver, No. 421 wrote
in his Log Book, another mission completed. We have an ambassador
now to help the shy ferrets feel more at home here. All is well at
the Bridge.
