The Mascot, Broadway, from the ferret shelter/rescue FURRY left this
earth on Wednesday, August 27th at approximately 9:20 a.m.

Broadway went to the shelter 5 years ago, after he was rescued from an
abandoned glass factory where apparently people often dumped pets. A
night securty guard had gone to check out a commotion which turned out
to be a cat fight. He broke up the fight and then noticed something was
following him. It was a very blood ferret.

The guard called family & friends who took the injured ferret home and
started looking for a local shelter. The rescuers named him Broadway
after the name of the street that the factory was located. FURRY became
Broadway's permanent home.

He had one eye totally gone and the other was swollen shut. The vet was
able to save the one eye and through the years his eyesight became more &
more limited.

Broadway was the gentlest ferret ever. He was taken to adoptions,
schools, and wherever someone wanted to know about ferrets. Never
attempted to bite anyone...even after he was in pain...after the cats
attempted to use him for food...and FURRY took him in. He rewarded
Kurt, who runs the shelter, with kisses on his eyebrows.

Broadway was a truly amazing ferret! As limited as his sight was, he
sure knew how to make his way through my house...even though it was the
first time he was there. He was so happy and bouncy and such a good
boy!!

If anyone would be interested in reading the story on Broadway, you can
go to: www.furryferrets.org
If you would be interested in a donation in Broadway's name, the address
for the donation is on the website. At one time, there was talk of
starting a special donation so the shelter could help people if they
can't afford healthcare for their ferret...rather than giving them up.
This might be the time for that. The shelter could also use funds for
healthcare of the existing ferrets.

Broadway saw too many little fuzzies pass through the shelter...and the
rainbow bridge. He will be missed very, very much. He had a great
impact on many and was a big part of the shelter. Because of so many
ferrets at times in the shelter, he didn't get to run as much as he
wanted...but he's got the whole big Heaven to run in now!

God bless all your healthy and ailing ferrets...and God Bless Broadway,
a truly awesome ferret!!
