One thing to keep in mind when comparing ferret prices is the natural
breeding season --- is NOT winter months.... They are using artificial
lighting in the breeding mills to stimulate the natural breeding cycle of
ferrets for commercial purposes. However, they do not get the yield with
the winter months that they do in the natural breeding environment THEREFORE
the demand is up and the prices go up.

Now some pet stores do keep the prices up year round.... others like one in
our area drop prices $89-$99 in summer $110-$120 in winter... It has to do
with supply and demand as well as the winter stock shortfalls.. Also if
they purchase many kits they pay less for them (the pet stores that is) than
if the purchase a few....

Seldom have I seen this passed on to customers though!

My suggestions - and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings--- start at your
local shelter or with the SPCA (but don't be surprised to find out that
while many SPCA's take them in-- they don't adopt them out...) WHERE DO YOU
THINK THEY GO???? but they want you to keep those donations coming in----

Happy ferreting and may the prices be right
